Where to Drop In and Play a While When Schools Are Closed

October 4, 2017

Now that school is back in session, most working parents are confronted nearly immediately with what to do when there is a weekday holiday. As previously mentioned, I am on parent-rewind, and I have to say that while many things have not changed over the years for working parents, options for drop-in activities on school holidays and even weekends have improved. Having just experienced this, I am happy to share a few of the options that have piqued my interest this week as Diversions for just this challenge.

Chelsea Piers Connecticut
One Blachley Street, Stamford, Conn.

Admittedly, this might be a logistical reach for most parents in our area, but if you work in Connecticut and need a place for your kids on holidays and vacations, you can’t go wrong at Chelsea Piers Connecticut. The massive facility is host to just about every sport and exercise program imaginable and the drop-in activities include: jump and climb zone, splash zone, batting cages, little athlete’s zone, gymnastics, ice skating, open volleyball, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, and track, hockey and more. There are event spaces, babysitting and pre-school on premises.
