Chelsea Piers Athletic Club Celebrates Annam Olasewere's Stellar Performance at the World Aquatics Junior Championships

Stamford, CT – Chelsea Piers Athletic Club (CP-AC) is thrilled to announce the outstanding achievement of Annam Olasewere, a proud member of our Aquatics Club, at the recent World Aquatics Junior Championship in Netanya, Israel.

Annam Olasewere, a promising young swimmer from CP-AC, showcased her incredible prowess by clinching second place in the 50M Freestyle, recording a time of 24.95 and moving up to No. 6 in the U.S. girls’ 15-16 national age group (NAG) rankings. The championship witnessed participation from over 600 swimmers from more than 100 countries. Competing at such a level, Annam proudly represented Team USA, Connecticut Swimming, and CP-AC with distinction.

Athletic Director, Kevin Burton voiced his pride, stating, “We are incredibly excited for Annam and the team supporting her for this success on the international level. This result is a testament to her work ethic and commitment to achieving the goals she has set for herself.”

Matt Hurst, Head Coach of the Chelsea Piers Aquatics Club, expressed his admiration, “Any time you get to represent your country, it is a tremendous honor. Annam’s efforts are a tribute to her focus and determination. This is a great example of the success that can be achieved when coaches, athletes, and families are able to work together for a common goal. We are extremely proud of Annam and look forward to what’s next!”

Assistant Coach Aaron Montgomery added, “Annam's progress from regional to national to international success over the past two years has been incredibly impressive. To some, it may have appeared to be effortless. But it's not. Her focus is amazing. The great thing about Annam, the competitor, is her ability and desire to get better at the little things that have had a huge impact on her racing. She's also one of the most level-headed competitors in the field. The bigger the stage, the more dialed-in she becomes. It has been a pleasure having the opportunity to work with her.”

When approached about her recent achievement, Annam Olasewere reflected, "I can't believe it, honestly! It was such an awesome experience to represent Team USA for the first time in Israel. The time was just a bonus! I owe so much to my family, my amazing coaches at Chelsea Piers, and my teammates. I'm super pumped for the U.S. Olympic Trials in June. I'm going to give it my all and see where it takes me!" signifying her gratitude and aspirations for the future.

Coming from a strong support system, Annam has been training rigorously at Chelsea Piers in Stamford. With this remarkable achievement under her belt, the young swimmer is now setting her sights on the U.S. Olympic Trials in Indianapolis this coming June.

We extend our hearty congratulations to Annam and anticipate many more accomplishments in her future. We are excited to have her as part of our Chelsea Piers family and will continue to support her in her journey to greatness.
