Chelsea Piers Connecticut Announces Expansion Of Chelsea Piers Soccer Club

March 20, 2017

(Stamford, CT – March 20, 2017) – Chelsea Piers Connecticut is pleased to announce the expansion of its Premier soccer club for the 2017-2018 season. The Chelsea Piers Soccer Club offers the area’s most comprehensive, year-round training program for youth soccer players. From early development soccer programs (In-house Academy and Premier Prep), to Regional and National League levels of play (including US Youth Soccer and US Club), to the highest level of competitive youth soccer, Chelsea Piers Soccer Club develops winning, well-rounded athletes that succeed both on and off the field.

In 2017, the program will expand to include high school age boys and girls (U15-U18) and retain all of its current teams.  Chelsea Piers Soccer Club will also add a hybrid program - Premier Prep - for U8-U11 players looking for advanced training and competition.

“We are thrilled to be growing the Chelsea Piers Soccer Club through the High School level,” commented Dave Flower, Chelsea Piers Soccer Club, Club Director and Varsity Girls Soccer coach at Westhill High School.  “We have had no turnover in our coaching staff and continue to enhance the complete athlete experience with off-surface training, mental preparation for individuals and teams, and year-round playing opportunities both indoors and outdoors.  All these elements contribute to creating the best training and team environment for athletes in all of Fairfield and Westchester Counties.”

The coaching staff  led by Flower has helped dozens of players break into the college ranks, most recently Natalie Druehl (Temple University) and Chelsea Dumond (Boston University).  Druehl was quoted in The Stamford Advocate:  “It’s amazing; I did not think I would ever be able to play DI soccer but here I am.   I loved playing for [Dave Flower]. He is an amazing person. He taught me so much on the field but off the field as well. “

Susie Starr, who was a two-time All American standout goalie at Fairfield High School and a four-year starter at Yale, is the Club’s Operations Director and oversees goalie training, as well as a unique team building and leadership development program.

Flower and Starr headline a powerhouse lineup of experienced youth and college coaches at Chelsea Piers, all of whom are invested in individual player development and commitment to a coaching as career.  The entire 2016-2017 coaching staff is returning for the 2017-2018 season.

Tryouts are scheduled for May 2 through May 14. For more information and exact dates/times, click here.
