Fitness Center Will be the Largest Fitness Club in Brooklyn

(January 15, 2018 - New York, NY) - Chelsea Piers is pleased to announce the launch of its new fitness club in Downtown Brooklyn – Chelsea Piers Fitness. Opening Spring 2018, Chelsea Piers Fitness will be the largest club of its kind in Brooklyn and cater to those seeking a comprehensive, unrivaled approach to fitness.

The new 52,000 square-foot facility, an extension of Chelsea Piers and its first stand-alone club, will be located at 265 Schermerhorn Street (aka 33 Bond Street). With its purpose-built approach to both physical and mental fitness, the club will feature studio-quality yoga, pilates and barre classes, a 75-foot swimming pool, the club’s signature indoor cycling program Breakaway, expansive cardio and open turf training areas, and an comprehensive group fitness schedule. Additionally, the club will have spacious open lounge and work spaces, complemented by a café operated by fresh&co.

Leading the new facility in Brooklyn will be a team of seasoned professionals and elite athletes.

“We are excited to provide the community with a spacious, comfortable environment to work out, train, relax and socialize,” commented David A. Tewksbury, one of the founders of Chelsea Piers New York and President and CEO of Chelsea Piers Fitness. “Our flagship club in Chelsea has served as our membership's home away from home since 1995. With two locations, Chelsea Piers Fitness can now proudly serve two boroughs.”

Chelsea Piers Fitness is designed to reflect the creative and intellectual needs of the surrounding community. Outstanding fitness programs, comfortable member lounges and a monthly calendar of cultural events will provide unique opportunities for members to remain stimulated and engaged.

“With unmatched facilities, programming and offerings, Chelsea Piers Fitness will be a game changer in Brooklyn,” commented Sam Bernstein, COO of Chelsea Piers Fitness and former captain of the Yale Golf Team. “We believe that working toward your fitness goals should be an exciting, enjoyable pursuit. This is at the core of our mission: ‘Play with Purpose.’”

Keeth Smart, General Manager of Chelsea Piers Fitness in Brooklyn, and an Olympic silver medalist in fencing at the 2008 Beijing Games, added: “As a Brooklyn native and resident, I look forward to making Chelsea Piers Fitness part of the fabric of the Brooklyn community that shares our passion for inspired fitness and wellness.”

The Chelsea Piers Fitness brand also includes the 150,000 square foot fitness club at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan – formerly known as the Sports Center at Chelsea Piers. The two clubs will share signature programming in cycling and yoga, education programs for trainers and staff, recreational and competitive teams and clubs, all-access membership options, communal work & social spaces, and artisanal food offerings.
