May 21, 2019

Chelsea Piers is proud to announce Chelsea Piers Aquatics Club (CP-AC) swimmers Kate Douglass and Maxine Parker have qualified for the 2020 USA Swimming Olympic Trials. The competition will serve as the sole qualifier for swimmers on the 2020 US Olympic Team for the games in Tokyo.

Kate Douglass, Pelham native and high school senior, qualified in the 50 free, 100 fly, 100 breast and 200IM, after hitting a new best at the Atlanta Classic last weekend. She’s now top 20 in the 17-18 age group, all-time rankings in the 100 fly and 200 IM as well as #9 in the 50 free. Kate will continue her swimming career at the University of Virginia in the fall.

Maxine Parker of New Canaan, is a junior in high school. She qualified in the 50 free. Maxine placed 8th in the 50 free, 6th in the 100 free, and tied for 3rd in the 200 free. She also participated in the CP-AC 200 medley relay team, which tied for 2nd place. Maxine has verbally committed to the University of Georgia’s class of 2024.

“We began the swim team in September of 2012 with hopes of creating outstanding swimmers,” commented Jamie Barone, Head Coach and Aquatics Director. “We are thrilled Kate and Maxine will represent us at the trials and hope some of the CP-AC college swim alumni will also qualify and join them.”

The USA Swimming Olympic Trials will be held June 21- June 28, 2020 in Omaha, Nebraska, at the CHI Health Center Omaha.
