CHELSEA PIERS CONNECTICUT TENNIS SENDS FOUR TEAMS TO ADULT USTA NATIONALS

CPCT PROGRAM QUALIFIES FOR NATIONALS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN PROGRAM HISTORY

(Stamford, CT – September 24, 2015) – Chelsea Piers Connecticut is proud to announce that its adult  USTA female tennis program (18+) qualified to send four teams to nationals for the first time in the program’s three year history. The event is held from October 9-11 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells California.

Qualifying under the 3.5 level, “CP Simply Smashing” is organized by team captain Sylva Swanson. The next team qualified at the 4.5 level, “CP Carpe Diem” is captained by Mary Cunningham and Denise Souza.

Chelsea Piers Connecticut was also able to send 2 teams with a 5.0 + level, “The Wright Stuff” is led by Ali Von Kennel. Team “Chelsea Piers” is captained by Jayne Kane and features International Tennis Hall of Famer, Olympic Gold Medalist and former pro Gigi Fernandez. The tournament is organized in a round-robin team match format. Each team will compete in two singles matches and three doubles matches per event.

“We are delighted that in just our third year of competing in USTA events, we were able to qualify four different top-level woman’s teams to nationals,” commented Wendy Gardiner, Tennis Director, Chelsea Piers Connecticut. “It’s truly an honor to have such high-quality and dedicated players practicing out of our immaculate facility. Attending nationals solidifies our program as a major player on the national USTA stage.”
