CPCT SQUASH DIRECTOR NATALIE GRAINGER WINS SECOND WORLD SQUASH FEDERATION WORLD MASTERS TITLE

October 4, 2016

(Stamford, CT – October 4, 2016) – Natalie Grainger, Squash Director at Chelsea Piers Connecticut, added another World Squash Federation (WSF) World Masters title to her resume this week. Representing the United States in the 2016 World Masters Squash Championships in Johannesburg, South Africa, Grainger came in first in the Women’s Over 35 Division defeating England’s Lauren Briggs in four games.

The World Masters Championships, which are now held every two years, began in 1991 for mature age players. This was Grainger’s second appearance in the Games. She previously competed in the 2014 World Masters Championships in Hong Kong, where she won gold in the Women’s Over 35 division.

Grainger’s latest achievements are the most recent additions to her already remarkable competitive squash resume. During the course of her 15-year professional career, Grainger was ranked #1 in the world and won 23 Tour Titles, including three US Opens and the Qatar Classic. She is also a six-time U.S. National Champion.

While Grainger now calls Greenwich home, she grew up playing at Parkview Squash Centre in Johannesburg. “There’s nothing like winning at home, even if it is my home away from home these days,” commented Grainger, “Winning a second title at the World Masters was very special but getting to do it in Johannesburg and among so many athletes I admire made it mean that much more. I am so excited to be wearing gold!”
