We’re breaking down our Strength + HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) classes with Chelsea Piers Fitness Group Fitness Director, Jenn Leffew.

 

STRENGTH 3D

Strength 3D

WHAT TO EXPECT

Improving physical strength requires pushing your limits and raising the bar to a new level. Strength 3D focuses on building total-body strength while conditioning you to handle time under tension for longer. Improving muscular strength is the foundation to total body transformation. Examples of exercises include chest flies, bicep curls and deadlifts.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Hit the turf and push your body to new limits in this class that combines strength and cardio to challenge your energy systems and motor control. Push & pull your body using Skillmills, bands, plyometrics, rowers, cones and kettlebells to perform at a higher output.

TREAD & SHRED / TredRX

Tread & Shred and TredRX

WHAT TO EXPECT

TREAD & SHRED (Chelsea Only): Challenge your cardiovascular endurance in this treadmill running class. Various speeds and incline levels will be used for maximum calorie burn, as well as strength training breaks off the mill to sculpt and tone the body.

TRedRX (Brooklyn Only): This class utilizes the TRX Suspension Trainer to develop strength and balance with exercises performed at a controlled pace. As you switch modes of exercise from the TRX to the Woodway Treadmills, your body will effectively and efficiently prepare for the next demand while recovering from the previous exercise demand. On the self-powered Woodway Treadmill, you are the motor controlling your own pace and workout experience.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This class utilizes the TRX Suspension Trainer to develop strength and balance with exercises performed at a controlled pace. You can expect to do pushups, squat-to-row, bicep curls, jump squats and more for a total body workout using TRX. Expect to use the TRX straps on your hands and feet, and in all different directions.

WHAT TO EXPECT

In this class, find the solution for all things core stability with either a lower, upper or full-body focus. Bodyweight exercises are followed by glider moves to lengthen, challenge stability, and strengthen your core in this non-stop class. Go the extra mile, with three hardcore cardio pushes dispersed throughout class. You can expect to use gliders and therabands to the beat of the music.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Designed to bring out the fighter in you, IMPACT will give you an intense workout while learning the basics of boxing. Combined with conditioning drills, shadow boxing and heavy bag work, this class will leave you feeling like a contender.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Designed to add a spark to your fitness regimen, IGNITE will incinerate calories in this 45-minute high impact, high-intensity interval training class.  Come give your all as you do cardio, strength and plyometric based exercises to maximize the metabolic effect!
