CHELSEA PIERS CONNECTICUT ANNOUNCES CHACE CALKIN AS LACROSSE HEAD COACH

June 13, 2016

(Stamford, CT – June 13, 2016) – Chelsea Piers Connecticut is pleased to announce that Chace Calkin has joined the staff at Chelsea Piers Connecticut.  Calkin comes to Chelsea Piers after playing in college for DI powerhouse University of Denver.

Calkin was recruited out of high school to play at Manhattan College, in Riverdale, NY.  After one year there, the University of Denver recruited him to join their roster as a mid-fielder and face-off specialist.  Calkin went on to two NCAA Final Four teams with the University of Denver.  They won the 2011 ECAC regular-season Championship as well as the 2011 and 2013 ECAC Tournament Championship.

Since graduating from college, Calkin has worked with Tierney Lacrosse which is one of the top travel programs out of the West Coast, and Fundamental Lacrosse, out of Fairfield, on their youth travel programs.  Additionally, he served as an assistant coach at Sacred Heart University (DI).  Pior to that, Calkin worked with offensive and face off players at John Carroll University where he helped lead them to a 13-4 season and a first-ever berth at the conference championships.

The goal of Chelsea Piers Connecticut’s lacrosse programming is to strengthen the skills of beginner, intermediate and advanced players in a fun and supportive athletic environment. A variety of age-appropriate programs, ranging from Little Athletes to Elite travel teams, ensure that all players, whether they are new to the sport or a college-bound athlete, progressively improve both individual and team skills.

"Chace is a wonderful addition to the Chelsea Piers team of accomplished coaches and program directors,” said Greta Wagner, Executive Director of Chelsea Piers Connecticut. “Chace’s playing experience is some of the best you can find competing at the highest level of the sport at the collegiate level.  This, combined with his experience coaching children on travel programs, make him a well-rounded coaching asset to our team.”
