NATIONAL WOMEN'S HOCKEY LEAGUE ANNOUNCES SUMMER HOCKEY CAMP AT CHELSEA PIERS

NWHL STAR PLAYERS TO STAFF CAMP

(Stamford, CT – March 22, 2016) - Chelsea Piers Connecticut announced an exciting new partnership with the National Women’s Hockey League and the Connecticut Whale to run the first NWHL Girls Hockey Camp in the summer of 2016.

Campers ages 8 to 15 will have the opportunity to train with six top players from the NWHL. During the full-day camp, hockey players receive three hours of high-paced on-ice instruction daily, off-ice training and hockey IQ sessions with the professional players.  Daily power skating and skill specific sessions culminate with a game at the end of each week.  Camp runs the weeks of June 27th - July 1st and July 18th – July 22nd.

“We are very proud of the NWHL staff that has committed to lead our first NWHL camp series,” commented Greta Wagner, Executive Director Chelsea Piers Connecticut.  “This team of coaches has reached the highest levels in both collegiate and professional hockey.  They have a passion for teaching and developing young athletes.  With so many talented coaches, our campers will receive the most unique, dynamic and rewarding hockey camp experience possible.”

Samantha Faber

  • CT Whale (NWHL)
  • 5th all-time scorer in University of New Hampshire history (189 points in 143 games)
  • Member of the 2008 gold-medal winning USA National Team
  • Finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award (NCAA women's best hockey player)
  • Leading scorer for the Boston Blades of the Canadian Women's Hockey League (2010)

Kelly Babstock

  • CT Whale (NWHL)
  • All-time leading scorer, Quinnipiac University, 203 points in 147 games played
  • NCAA All-American, named a Top 10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award (given to the best women’s college hockey player in the NCAA)
  • 2010 ECAC Rookie and Player of the Year

Jessica Koizumi

About the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL)
The NWHL is the first professional women’s hockey league in North America to pay its players. The inaugural season began October 11, 2015 with the Founding Four: Boston Pride, Buffalo Beauts, Connecticut Whale and New York Riveters. The Boston Pride became the first team in NWHL history to raise the Isobel Cup on March 12, 2016.
