Stamford, Connecticut; February 9, 2017 — The Business Council of Fairfield County will host our Healthy Workplace Employer Recognition Program on Tuesday, February 14 at the Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa from 8:00-9:30am.

The Healthy Workplace Employer Recognition Program was established to highlight the efforts of employers who understand the competitive advantage of a healthy workforce and who have implemented a diverse range of programs to promote a healthy workplace and assist their employees to live healthier lives.  The recognition program is presented by The Business Council’s Wellness Roundtable, with the generous support of Key Insurance Benefits & Services, Nestlé Waters North America, UnitedHealthcare of CT, Inc and Webster Bank.

“Key and our predecessor companies First Niagara Risk Management and Pierson & Smith have been active sponsors of the Healthy Workplaces program since its inception,” said Matthew Fair, Vice President, Key Insurance & Benefits Services and co-chair of The Business Council’s Wellness Roundtable. “We helped The Business Council establish the Health Workplaces program ten years ago, and we are proud of Key’s continued dedication to supporting a culture of health and wellness in our business community.”

Corporate Wellness Programs in the Region
Research demonstrates that employers realize increased productivity and reduced direct healthcare costs when they offer health and wellness programs to their employees.

“We have learned, not surprisingly, that more than two-thirds of health care spending is linked to behaviors that ultimately make us unhealthy.  Yet we have also learned that productivity and health care costs are equally linked to health,” commented Tanya Court, Director, Public Policy and Programs, The Business Council of Fairfield County. “As costs related to health and health care escalate business has responded in a variety of ways.  Just as our recognition program has evolved, so to have the many ways our workforces have engaged on wellness.”

Presented by The Business Council’s Wellness Roundtable, registration will begin at 7:45, and the breakfast program will be held from 8:00-9:30am. Registration is $40. To register, please contact The Business Council of Fairfield County at 203-359-3220 or visit www.businessfairfield.com.
