CHELSEA PIERS HOSTS THIRD ANNUAL WINTER CHALLENGE GYMNASTICS MEET

(Stamford, CT – January 29, 2016) – For the third consecutive year, Chelsea Piers Connecticut and Chelsea Piers New York will partner to host the Winter Challenge gymnastics competition at Chelsea Piers Connecticut. The meet, which features events for both boys and girls, will take place Saturday, February 13th and Sunday, February 14th at Chelsea Piers Connecticut in Stamford. 

Approximately 1,300 athletes will compete in the meet, an increase in 550 athletes from last year. The 35 teams of athletes come from Northeastern states including Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. The USA Gymnastics sanctioned event will feature competitors ranging from beginner to advanced level gymnasts and utilizes all certified USAG equipment.

“We are excited to be hosting the third annual Winter Challenge which brings together the strengths of both Chelsea Piers New York and Chelsea Piers Connecticut,” commented Greta Wagner, Executive Director of Chelsea Piers Connecticut. “Year over year, the event has been a great success and this year we are hosting over 35 teams. We are proud to provide this wonderful opportunity to showcase the region’s extremely talented competitive gymnasts”

The Winter Challenge runs from 8:00am-9:00pm Saturday and Sunday. The girl’s meet will take place in the Field House while the boy’s competition will be held in the Gymnastics facility. Schedule and admission details can be found here.
