NEW CLASS AT CHELSEA PIERS ATHLETIC CLUB: TREADMILL BOOTCAMP

Looking for a new fitness class to boost your routine? Treadmill Bootcamp debuts Friday, September 14 at 10:30am. We sat down with Martha Guttoso to learn more about this Complete Cardio-Strength Workout that stimulates metabolism, increases energy and burns more calories throughout the day.

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE TREADMILL BOOTCAMP IN A FEW WORDS WHAT WOULD THEY BE?

It is a Complete Cardio-Strength Workout. Heart pumping interval training for all fitness levels.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO CREATE TREADMILL BOOTCAMP?

Walking and Running is the most accessible form of cardiovascular and mental wellness. The more often you familiarize yourself with the experience and benefits, the more likely you will incorporate into your daily life. I was a swimmer and a runner in my youth. Both are excellent forms of physical wellness but running and walking are the easiest to incorporate into daily life. I personally have used running and walking to balance my mind and body for the last 40 years. I take it everywhere I go.

I’m a firm believer if you can’t access something easily, chances are it won’t get done! I like to incorporate tools for success into the lives of all my clients. Everyone can benefit from the Bootcamp class and learn how to utilize a treadmill or the outdoors for personal betterment.

WHAT ARE THE EXERCISE BENEFITS OF TREADMILL BOOTCAMP?

The full body work out will stimulate metabolism, increase energy and burn more calories throughout the daywith this Complete Cardio-Strength Workout.

WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR? ONLY RUNNERS?

The Bootcamp is a Platform for novice exposure and a challenge to the most advanced runners. The interval protocol allows for individual performance. Non-runners can climb hills and get their heart rate up and down. Runners will vary their pace for interest and maximum cardiovascular and calorie burning benefits. Everyone does what they can, what is best for their bodies.

Intervals are hard to do alone. A group setting is ideal. My hopes are that any “want to be runners” can learn how to pace themselves and enjoy the experience enough to make it part of their lives.

WHAT CAN ONE EXPECT FROM THE TREADMILL BOOTCAMP CLASS?

The Class is not all cardio based!  Various forms of strength training are woven into the class providing a total body fitness experience. The task exchange makes time fly by and provides one stop shopping for the hour!


Treadmill Bootcamp debuts Friday, September 14 from 10:30am - 11:30am in the Kaiser area.

All levels of fitness are Welcome.  Reservations strongly suggested.
