Chelsea Piers Tri Team Takes on Ironman Lake Placid

This Sunday, July 22, 16 members of our Triathlon team will compete against 2,500 triathletes in the 20th Ironman Lake Placid, the second-longest-running Ironman event in North America, behind only the most famous one of all - the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

The highly anticipated race begins with the swimmers entering the water at 6:30am for a 2.4 mile swim across beautiful Mirror Lake, followed by a demanding 112-mile bike leg through the Adirondack Mountains, and ends with a full 26.2 mile marathon through the mountains and downtown that ends at the Olympic speed skating oval in the village of Lake Placid.
