Hector Salazar

Hector was recruited to be a member of the Peruvian Junior National Team at the age of seven. When he turned 17, he moved to the U.S. to continue his training under Olympic coach Abe Grossfeld at Southern Connecticut University. In 1987, he competed at the Pan American Games and was also a competitor at the World Championships in Rotterdam, Holland later that year. At the collegiate level, Hector was awarded many titles from the New England Championships, the ECAC and the NCAA.

 Hector's greatest honor was a nomination for the Nissen award, college gymnastics highest honor. He has been coaching at Chelsea Piers since 2004 and has helped many young gymnasts rise to collegiate and national levels.
