Last December, we posted about the Top 5 benefits of Youth Sports. We focused on both the physical and the mental benefits of youth sports, including how participating in sports can help ease stress and contribute to your physical and mental health.

Now that fall is right around the corner, it’s time to move to the next step: figuring out which sport will be best for your child’s needs and development. Luckily, you won’t have to go far to find a program that will work for your family. At both of our Chelsea Piers locations in New York City and Stamford, CT, we offer a variety of youth sports programs to suit your child’s needs.

How Can My Child Benefit From Youth Sports at Chelsea Piers?

Whether you want your child to stay active, gain confidence, improve upon existing skills, or master a new skill, our youth sports programs offer endless advantages. Take a look at just a few:


Youth Gymnastics

Children from 12 months to 15 years of age can find a place in our New York and Stamford, CT, gymnastics program, where each participant receives personalized attention. Physically, kids who participate in gymnastics improve their coordination and flexibility. And while their bodies are in motion, their minds are learning commitment and self-discipline.


Youth Basketball

Players of all levels can develop fundamental basketball skills and learn to play the game correctly with our experienced and knowledgeable coaching staff. In our New York City program, players from 2 to 13 years can participate in recreational or competitive prep clinics, while in our Stamford, CT program, players age 4 to 11 can participate in clinics for all developmental levels. Our youth basketball programs help kids enhance their basketball IQ and teamwork. Plus, kids and teens work on hand-eye coordination, speed, and flexibility while working through drills and competitive situations.


Youth Soccer

The Chelsea Piers Soccer Program offers expert, fun instruction and a wide range of programs for all ages of soccer players. In our New York City program, our pre-school classes for 3-5-year old’s focus on the fundamentals of the sport, while our developmental youth classes for 5-14-year old’s concentrate on more advanced skills, development, and tactical awareness. While in our Stamford, CT programs, players 2-13 emphasize individual skill development in a fast-paced environment. Our youth soccer programs encourage players to improve their skills with a fun and professional process continually.


Youth Tennis

In our New York City program, we offer beginner classes that teach proper technique; in Stamford, CT, we offer recreational and competitive tennis clinics and private lessons. Our junior tennis programs are offered throughout the year and promote team building along with a sense of fairness. Plus, kids and teens work on hand-eye coordination, speed, and flexibility, as well as strengthening their bones and cardiovascular systems.


Youth Swimming Lessons

Every child should learn how to swim, but the benefits go far beyond gaining the ability to be safe in and around the water. Kids who learn to swim at the youth aquatics center at Chelsea Piers Athletic Club in Stamford, CT, will learn to love spending time in the water and get plenty of exercise along the way. Our swimming lessons progress through stages so that your child can go at their own pace and at a level that works for them.
